A rush of dark red and purplish stone fruit, mint, new leather, spice and blood orange give the 2015 a very decidedly exotic character that is impossible to miss. Raspberry jam, mocha, new leather and expressive floral notes appear with time in the glass, rounding things out nicely. Even though the 2015 is quite forward and open at this stage, the wine has plenty of stuffing as well as the underlying structure to support many years of exceptional drinking. This is a stellar showing for Lynch-Bages. This wine is full bodied and ripe with black-currant and dark berry fruits. The tannins fall into the cushioned wine with ease and richness. Of course, the wine should be aged, so wait until 2026. *Cellar Selection* (RV) (12/2017)

95 points James Suckling - Brambly and attractive ripe blackberries and red-plum aromas with some floral accents, too. The palate has a very plush, polished and regal shape as tannins frame up a core of ripe black fruit. Succulent, impressive finish. Best from 2022. (2/2018)

94 points Decanter - This is a beautiful dark, rich purple colour, still with vivid en primeur edging. The nose is closed right now, and the tannins lend a certain austerity. After a few minutes, the loganberry and blackberry notes come through, along with liquorice and fresh mint leaf. Although the tannins remain insistent, the light begins to filter in. This is an excellent Lynch-Bages which displays the solid masculine frame that has become more apparent over the past few years. It's clearly going to age extremely well. 75% new oak. Notes of ripe blackcurrants, caramelized cherries, tobacco leaf and a kiss of lead pencil all emerge from this textbook Pauillac that has medium to full-bodied richness, notable concentration, and building structure. Made from 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot that saw 75% new barrels, it needs 5-7 years of cellaring and will be one of the longer-lived wines from the Médoc. 94+ (11/2017)

94 points Wine Spectator - This has an ample core of plum, fig and blackberry compote flavors, underlined liberally with graphite and smoldering tobacco notes. Fleshy and focused, with ample grip through the juniper- and tar-accented finish. Well-built. Best from 2023 through 2038. One sniff and you know that the vines are in close proximity to the sea. The palate is medium-bodied with impressive weight on the entry, the tannins almost immediately coating the mouth (the IPT is 93, fairly high). But everything remains balanced thanks to the fine acidic thread, and it begins to firm up, becoming quite structured and, dare I say, reminiscent of Latour toward the finish. The château is recognized for the quality of its fresh and powerful sweet wines with beautiful substance, which become even more beautiful with the test of time. Respect for the environment is an essential part of the philosophy of this property. The harvest is manual, allowing the team to select only the most beautiful fruit, grape by grape. This fruit is then allowed to express itself through very authentic wines.

The vineyard - Located in the heart of the Sauternes appellation, Château Rieussec watches over 85 hectares of vineyards planted in sandy clay gravel soils. Thus, Rieussec has opted for a 95% recycled glass and a cork that allows the wine to be kept for many weeks and reused as a carafe or vase.

The vintage - The 2019 vintage is perfectly suited for this spirit of renewal. Chevalier suits a year like 2016, when the fruit was able to take its time to ripen. It's notably more tannic than most of the other wines in the lineup, and will take its time to come round. It has brooding cassis and blackberry fruit, firm tannins and touches of tobacco and smoked sarments. There's no question that this will age well.

96 Points Wine Enthusiast - This elegant wine wears its firm tannic structure lightly. It is densely textured, just starting on its road to maturity. Black-plum and berry fruits give the wine its weight as much as the tannins. It will age well over many years. *Cellar Selection*

96 Points Wine Spectator - The core of fruit flavor here is sappy and dense, with lots of kirsch, raspberry pâte de fruit and plum reduction notes, yet this stays fresh and racy overall, with a bright iron spine, flashes of tea and tobacco and a long finish that shows a wonderful infusion of alder and tobacco flavors. Offers a lovely combination of prodigious fruit details, with a tug of earth. *Top 100 Wines of 2019*

94 Points Wine Advocate - The 2016 Domaine de Chevalier is a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored, it rocks up with expressive warm plums, blueberry compote and cassis scents with suggestions of sandalwood, baking spices and potpourri. Medium-bodied and delicately styled yet with a rock-solid frame of grainy tannins, it sports restrained earth-laced fruit and a long finish.

17.5/20 Points Jancis Robinson - Deep purple-rimmed crimson. Intense aroma that is very pure cassis and cassis leaf – but fully ripe – and just a hint of oak sweetness, and a hint of something more wild like elderberry. Gorgeous on the palate, richly fruited, rounded, deep and perfectly balanced for a long life but relatively early approachability.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0242/0683/products/mywineplus.com-Domaine-de-Chevalier-2016-Pessac-Leognan-Bordeaux-France.jpg?v=1642205509
chateau-rauzan-segla-2011-margaux-bordeaux-france
Chateau Rauzan-Segla 2011 Margaux Bordeaux France

94 Points Wine Enthusiast - This is typical of the ripe and opulent style of this property with super ripe black currant fruit. It's concentrated in flavor, but also structured with smooth tannins. It's a wine both for short-term fruitiness and long-term power and density. Full body, integrated tannins and a fresh finish. A little chewy but will soften with age. Better in 2017.

93 Points Jeb Dunnuck - The 2011 Rauzan-Ségla is more red-fruited and spice-driven, with complex tobacco, dried earth, flowers, and cedar notes in the background. Medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, and elegant on the palate, it has the firm edge to its tannins that’s common in the vintage, yet it has more than enough sweet fruit as well as impressive mid-palate depth and a great finish. A blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot, it’s another rich yet elegant wine from this estate that will continue offering ample pleasure for another two decades or more.

92 Points Wine Advocate - Deep garnet colored, the 2011 Rauzan-Ségla displays a series of earthy notes to begin—truffles, moss-covered bark, fungi and tilled soil—over a core of redcurrant jelly, blackberry pie and mincemeat with hints of sandalwood, new leather and fallen leaves. Medium-bodied with a firm line of chewy, slightly rustic tannins, it has a great core of earth-laced black fruits with provocative freshness and a long mineral-tinged finish. The blend this year is 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot, harvested between September 8th and 28th, at an average yield of 28 hectoliters per hectare. It was aged for 18 months in French oak, 70% new. The alcohol is 13.5%, and the pH is 3.33.

92 Points Vinous - The 2011 Rauzan-Ségla is a pretty little thing. It has a gentle but very appealing nose whose attractiveness creeps up on you: black fruit, briary, a hint of sandalwood and pressed flowers. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannin, a fine thread of acidity, très Margaux towards the second half with a feminine, unassuming personality that is just so elegant and refined without shortchanging on fruit. To put it simply, this is just a wine you want to drink rather than think too long about.

92 Points Wine Spectator - Modern style with a good fleshy feel and a nice smoky edge to the currant fig and melted licorice notes. Stays velvety through the finish with the flavors melding nicely.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0242/0683/products/mywineplus.com-Chateau-Rauzan-Segla-2011-Margaux-Bordeaux-France.jpg?v=1642206426
