About The Wine:
The relatively new Presqu'ile Vineyard is a fairly cool site, which leads to wines with perhaps slightly more old-world inflection than those from our other vineyards. This 2011 bottling is a wine of grace, restraint, nuance, and quiet power. Seeing 50% stem inclusion during fermentation and 50% new French oak barrels during aging, this dark garnet wine delivers a nose of old-fashioned roses, mint, and lavender, while the palate shows sun-warmed boysenberry, olive leaf, and almond paste. This will amply reward time in decanter, or, for those who can wait, a few years in the cellar.
About The Region:
The convergence of the Pacific's cool marine influence, warmer inland valleys, and gorgeous Western light creates the truly remarkable wine-growing conditions for which the Santa Maria Valley is known.
"We respect each vintage as an opportunity to produce wines that reflect that year's unique growing conditions, and we aspire to craft wines which are respectful of the fruit and offer a sense of place: a sense of our Central Coast terroir."
