Our Columbia Valley wines all have a varietal focus. The intent is to produce the best example of that particular varietal wine from the best vineyards sites in eastern Washington - all with a L’Ecole imprint of style. These wines are the cornerstone of the L’Ecole portfolio, crafted for consistency and quality in every bottle. With nearly 30 years of winemaking, we work with a portfolio of older, proven, highly managed vineyards known for their dedication to producing the best fruit possible
With its classic varietal Cabernet profile, this focused and integrated wine shows layers of dark fruit, coffee, earth and baking spice. Flavors of plum, blackberry and cassis mingle with dusty fine tannins through a long, expressive finish.
For over 30 years, L’Ecole has built long term partnerships with the oldest and most proven vineyards, providing access to some of the best fruit in the Columbia Valley. With average vine age of more than 20 years, this wine shows a classic Cabernet Sauvignon profile of firm structure, integrated tannins and dark expressive fruit.
92 points, “Years Best US Cabernet” - Wine & Spirits, August 2015 “Powerful and broad shouldered, this robust cabernet shows a softer side with air, bringing scents of cedar frond and gravelly minerality to go with the dark black cherry fruit. The flavors are weighty, but acidity courses through to lend them structure. Give it time to mature, then serve with lamb.” – Patrick Comiskey
91+ points - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, November 2015 “(from multiple sources, mostly older vines): Bright medium ruby. Aromas of dark berries, black cherry, black licorice and violet convey a medicinal reserve that reminded me of Petit Verdot but this is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Very plush, dense, sweet dark fruit and violet flavors show a slight youthful roughness. This unevolved wine will need time to absorb its big, chewy tannins.” – Stephen Tanzer
