From a large vineyard (Gap's Crown is roughly 130 acres), the 2013 Pinot Noir Gap's Crown Vineyard comes from a smaller 37-acre parcel owned by Kosta Browne, which lies at an elevation of 1,000 feet above sea level. Harvest all towards the end of September and aged 16 months in 51% new French oak, it has a slightly darker slant in its wild strawberry, black raspberry, spice and sappy flower stem-like aromas and flavors. Elegant, seamless and downright pretty, it grows on you with time in the glass and is a gorgeous Pinot Noir to drink over the coming decade. (JD) (10/2015)

The 2013 Pinot Noir Gap's Crown is the biggest and richest of the Sonoma Coast Pinots. Dark red cherry, plum, new leather and cedar flesh out in a radiant, distinctly supple Pinot for the year. The Gap's Crown is all about depth, voluptuousness and texture. A touch of whole clusters add an attractive dimension of nuance. (AG) (3/2015)

Firm and tight, with acidity and tannins imparting structure and definition. The core of raspberry, anise, cedar and red licorice are presented in a restrained manner, gaining depth and persistence on the finish. Drink now through 2022. (JL) (8/2015)

91 points Connoisseurs Guide

On the compact side of things and a little slow to unfold on the nose, this energetic young wine hints at dried flowers and sweet oak while focusing on pert fruit. While it is built along fairly firm lines, it does not err to stiffness and shows great fruity persistence, and, if it is one of the least showy wines of its clan just now, it is rife with potential and limited only by its very obvious youth. Set it aside, tag it for aging a good four or five years and by all means avoid pulling its cork before it has had an opportunity to grow into its best. *Two Stars* (10/2015)

Gap’s Crown vineyard is owned and managed by Gap’s Crown, LLC and is located in the Petaluma Wind Gap. Kosta Browne Winery has purchased Gap’s Crown Pinot Noir grapes since 2006, and now enjoys a long term lease of 37 planted acres. “It has been the backbone of our Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir program and contributed to our 2009 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir being awarded Wine Spectator’s #1 Wine of the Year in 2011,” says Michael Browne, founder of Kosta Browne Winery. Their viticulture is second to none, producing some of the finest grapes in Sonoma County.
