2013 Pott "20M3" Stagecoach Vineyard Napa Valley Viognier

Winery Notes: "One night over dinner, when the price of gold hit a record high last year Claire and I got to wondering how much gold there actually was in the world. We looked it up and the consensus seems to be that if all the gold on Earth were squashed in to one lump it would measure about 20 meters cubed … 20m3. I was so intrigued by this idea that I decided to use it as the name for our Viogner which is also precious and rare and a delicate pale gold in color."

Technical Notes:

  • Vineyard Name: Stagecoach K2B
  • Owners: Dr. Jan Krupp
  • Appellation: Between Pritchard Hill and Atlas Peak
  • Landscape: slight south-facing slope, rocky but uniform soils, and nestled between two ridges.
  • Soil Type: Hambright with some Guenoc.
  • Varietals: Viogner
  • Climate: Buffered by ridges from extremes of temperature and high winds, nice, cooling marine influence from the Rector Canyon Lake.

Reviews: 90 points - Vinous "Pott's Viognier 2013 20m3 is quite pretty. Honey, jasmine apricot pit and a host of tropical-inflected notes meld together in an expressive, textured Viognier long on class and personality. The 2013 is rich and extroverted yet also impeccable in its balance."
