Brewer - Clifton 2016 Santa Rita Hills Chardonnay
93 points Decanter - Fruit notes combine Granny Smith apple with ripe amalfi lemon. A touch of hazelnut signals masterful and very restrained handling of oak - only neutral barrels were used. The palate is concentrated and precise, marshalling the vivid fruit and Pacific coastal freshness into a harmonious, expressive whole. There is quite a bit of alcohol, but the acid stands up to it beautifully. This is seductive now but has the stuffing to last the distance. Drink through 2030.
91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - The 2016 Chardonnay Sta. Rita Hills offers up a bright bouquet of honeyed citrus, preserved lemon, apple and beeswax, framed by a touch of nutmeg-like leesiness. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with lovely glossy texture underpinned by lots of cut, finishing with good length and grip. This is one of Brewer-Clifton's largest cuvées, and it's keenly priced too. Drink through 2025.
91 points Vinous - Brewer-Clifton's 2016 Chardonnay (Sta. Rita Hills) is a gorgeous appellation-level wine. Orange peel, passionfruit, apricot and a whole range of tropical inflections give the 2016 much of its personality. Classy and impeccable in its balance, the Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay has so much to offer.
91 points Wine Spectator - Intense flavors of honeydew melon and pear tart dominate this supple white. The richly spiced finish shows some pastry notes. Drink now through 2022.
