90 Points - James Suckling - “Aromas of blackcurrants, spices and dried tea leaves. Cedar, too. Medium-to full-bodied, firm and chewy with slightly dusty tannins. Needs a year or two to soften. Drink in 2020.”
A well-balanced, well-structured medium to full bodied Bordeaux. Rich and soft flavors are present with fresh black fruit and soft integrated tannins. There are aromas and flavors of blackberry, blueberry, dark plum, black cherry, licorice, and cedar, with a beautifully persistent finish.
Chateau Auguste is an approachable and exquisite Bordeaux in the whole sense of the word. Merlot is the dominant grape and Cabernet Sauvignon plays a supporting role, adding a little complexity to this great wine. This is a magnificent versatile wine that can be paired with steak, veal, venison and poultry or pasta dishes.
Chateau Auguste is a 74-acre Bordeaux Superieur estate located in the Right Bank region of Bordeaux within the Entre-Deux-Mers appellation. The enchanting name "Entre-Deux-Mers" - translated as "between two seas or tides" - refers to the Garonne and Dordogne rivers that form the boundaries of triangular shaped region. For thousands of years, the two rivers have deposited sand and gravel eventually building up a sub rock of limestone. Given the fertile landscape, Romans were the first to plant vineyards here, with monks later developing the area during the Middle Ages.
The estate is organically farmed, with the chateau producing more than 16,000 cases a year.
