Perfect and beautiful Bordeaux red, elegant blue fruit aroma. There are even more tastes filled in mouth, with the stronger fragrance of blue fruit combined with the beautiful flameout of black fruit (black gallon, mulberry and blueberry). Fine and delicate wood flavor brings the touch of spices and cocoa. Desired tannins correspond to the palate, sweet, rich and harmonious.
The vineyard, with an area of about twenty-seven hectares, produces well-constituted and appreciated wines (Silver medal for the 1998 vintage at the Paris General Agricultural Competition).
Château des Granges d'Or is located in one of the most renowned appellations in France: Le Médoc, more precisely in the commune of Blaignan.
The Médoc is one of the Bordeaux vineyards very famous for its red wines.
This appellation is located in the Gironde department, which owes its name to the longest estuary in Europe formed jointly by the Garonne and the Dordogne.
The climate of the Gironde region is hot and humid (temperate climate), which is a great asset for producing quality wines and for obtaining a good balance between the main constituents: alcohols, acidity and tannins.
Its location near the estuary and the Atlantic Ocean gives a regulating influence.
No excessive cold in winter or too much heat in summer.
Château Des Granges d'Or has been a family business (LLEU & JOANNON) since 1973, it became a public limited company in 1998.
The farm is composed of:
27 ha of vines
30 ha of cereals
The average yield is 50 hl/ha for an annual production of 1350 hl or 180,000 bottles.
The average age of the vineyard is 20 years with a density of 5,000 vines/ha.
The grape varieties present on the estate are the most typical of the Médoc with 55% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and finally 5% Cabernet Franc.
Merlot is the ideal complement to Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. It has a good aromatic complexity, it brings roundness, suppleness and mellowness to the wine.
Cabernet Sauvignon has a good tannic concentration with an intense structure. It brings finesse and good fruitiness to the wine.
Cabernet Franc is very fine, it is distinguished by its aromatic finesse, its spicy aromas, its structure and its good ageing potential.
The soils of the farm are clay-limestone.
The vineyard is managed using sustainable pest management.
Each work is carried out in a thoughtful way to best preserve the environment and the vine which will bring the fruit of a whole year's work.
