95 points James Suckling
This is a dense and juicy red with characters of blackberries, chocolate and pine needles. Sweet tobacco, too. Full body and round, polished tannins. A more dialed-in, terroir character than in past vintages. 88% cabernet sauvignon, 7% cabernet franc and 5% petit verdot.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Altagracia has slightly muted black cherries, crushed black plums and cassis with hints of licorice, black soil and cracked pepper plus a waft of tapenade. Medium to full-bodied, rich and expressive in the mouth, it delivers a lot of layers and wonderfully fine tannins, finishing long and earthy. (LPB) From Robert Parker Jr. on Eisele Vineyard: "This is one of the greatest terroirs in all of Napa Valley, if not all of California... It is no coincidence that the Eisele Vineyard is now owned by a first-growth proprietor from France, François Pinault, of Château Latour in Bordeaux...the greatness from this fabulous terroir continues unabated...The 2015 Eisele Vineyard Altagracia Cabernet Sauvignon, as one might expect, is seamless, with gobs of fruit, loads of blackcurrant and blackberry notes, a touch of floral notes, medium to full body and easygoing silky tannin. It is a luscious, seductive style of wine to drink in its first 12-15 years of life. 91-94 (RP)

Deep healthy crimson. Quite subtle and hidden on the nose. Then very broad and almost brûlée on the palate with markedly more tannin than most Napa Valley Cabernets. Lots of interest here. Undergrowth rather than pure fruit. Only medium weight. I’d LOVE to taste this alongside Ch Latour! Very clean finish. But sweeter than a Bordeaux.(17.5+/20 points) (JR)

WINEGROWING INFORMATION: A mild and exceptionally dry winter led to early bud break, followed by the earliest bloom on record at the end of April. Fruit set was harmonious across the parcels showing once again the strength of the old vines and remarkable consistency of the terroir. While a cool May exposed the region to shatter and very low yields, the vines of Eisele Vineyard were protected by early growth and well-balanced canopies. Warm days through the summer fostered steady ripening, leading to the September 5 start of our Cabernet harvest, the earliest since 2001. The fruit received at the winery was of exceptional quality. Harvest ended on September 15th.
The Eisele Vineyard grapes are certified ‘Organic’ by CCOF and ‘Biodynamic’ by Demeter.
TASTING NOTES Our winemaking team notes: “The 2015 vintage is full of energy. The nose opens with a very expressive bouquet of summer fruit: dark cherry, raspberry and boysenberries with notes of vanilla and cinnamon. The attack is voluminous and round with layered blue fruits sustained by a hint of graphite on the long finish, bringing delicious minerality and freshness. The tannins are very fine and tightly knit. The ripeness of the fruit transitions effortlessly into intense dark and earthy aromas. This is a great Altagracia with an outgoing personality.”
