Refreshing aromas of lemon-lime, melon and a soft hint of vanilla intrigue the nose. On the palate, citrus and pineapple flavors combine with a touch of white guava from the French Colombard. Smooth with bright acidity, the tasty finish lingers with a toasty aftertaste.
An excellent vintage for California, 2014 showcased a mild winter and spring which caused and early bud break. The overall length of the growing season was similar to years past with maximum ripeness and full rich flavors. After the grapes were harvested from several of California’s finest appellations, they were destemmed, crushed and pressed then aged in new French Oak for six months. This Chardonnay also went through 50% malolactic fermentation which gives the wine a creamy, rich mouth feel. A small amount of French Colombard and Viognier were added to round out the blend, providing complex flavors and delicate aromas.
This Chardonnay would pair wonderfully with an herb-crusted halibut, chicken, or pork loin paired with a zesty zucchini and mushroom side dish. Any tropical or pan-Asian cuisine would pair well too: pot stickers with edamame and a soy vinaigrette or grilled shrimp with a pineapple salsa on a warm summer’s night.
