Paul Hobbs, an internationally known winemaker, and his Yacoubian family partners have traveled to Armenia's cradle of wine to create modern, world-class wines from indigenous varietals grown in the high altitude, mineral-rich soils of Vayots Dzor.
Rind and Aghavnador in the Vayots Dzor province have indigenous grape types. Yacoubian-Hobbs' vineyard, which was planted in 2014 in the village of Aghavnadzor, includes local and foreign grape types that will explore the terroir's flexibility.
Yacoubian Hobbs wine is praised most with the Areni wine. Areni is a 100% Armenian varietal that has adapted beautifully to the high altitude, mountainous region of Vayots Dzor, where the vines thrive on the stony, mineral-rich volcanic soils. Fresh, delicate, structured wines with brilliant red fruit flavors and a unique black pepper spice are produced by this late-ripening grape.
