Clos de L'Oratoire des Papes 2019 Châteauneuf-du-Pape “Les Chorégies”

Rhône Valley, France – Old Vine Grenache Blend

Old Vines • Classic Rhône • Structured & Age-Worthy

The Clos de L'Oratoire des Papes 2019 Châteauneuf-du-Pape “Les Chorégies” is a rich, expressive, and structured Southern Rhône red that highlights the depth and character of old-vine Grenache from one of the region’s most historic estates.

Produced from vines planted in the 1960s, this cuvée is composed of 90% Grenache and 10% Mourvèdre, delivering both plush fruit and structural backbone. The 2019 vintage offers warmth, concentration, and balance—hallmarks of a classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape year.

Fermented with partial whole-cluster inclusion for added aromatic lift and complexity, the wine is aged through a careful regimen of French oak, concrete vats, and extended bottle aging, resulting in a layered and refined final profile.

The nose is intense and multifaceted, with aromas of kirsch, black cherry, licorice, cigar box, and black olive, supported by classic Rhône notes of garrigue, thyme, and laurel. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with a velvety texture from the Grenache, balanced by fine tannins and savory depth. Flavors of red and black fruits, pepper, chocolate, and earthy spice lead into a long, evolving finish.

With time in bottle, this wine will develop additional complexity, revealing notes of truffle, dried herbs, and cocoa, making it both enjoyable now and rewarding with aging.
