96 Points James Suckling - There’s extraordinary energy in this wine. It displays a dark nose of black cherries, bramble fruit, violets, forest, licorice, bark, carob and leather. Density and tension dominate the full-bodied palate, with firm, velvety tannins. It’s slightly austere in the finish at the moment, yet it’s crunchy and full of potential. Try from 2026.

96 Points Kerin O'Keefe - Tignanello is one of Tuscany’s most iconic wines and the 2022 doesn’t disappoint, starting with its captivating aromas of fragrant purple flower, cake spice, camphor and ripe plum. A blend of mainly Sangiovese with small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, the smooth, utterly delicious and elegantly structured palate delivers succulent black cherry, cassis, vanilla, mocha and graphite alongside well-integrated, fine-grained tannins. Fresh acidity lifts the rich flavors.

95 Points Vinous - The 2022 Tignanello is such an elegant, poised wine. Brisk acids cut through a core of red Sangiovese fruit. Crushed flowers, mint, cinnamon, rose petal and a kiss of French oak appear later, adding notable brightness. The 2022 is a decidedly mid-weight Tignanello, but all the elements are very nicely balanced throughout. Tignanello saw rain episodes at the end of the season, like most properties, but steep, well-draining hillsides were a clear advantage. The blend is 78% Sangiovese, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc, essentially the classic proportions here.

Winery Notes - The 2022 vintage of Tignanello continues the legacy of one of Italy’s most iconic wines. A blend of Sangiovese with a portion of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, it showcases the balance between tradition and innovation that defines the Antinori estate. Grown on the marl-rich soils of the Tignanello vineyard in Chianti Classico, the wine is aged in French and Hungarian oak barriques. The 2022 reveals aromas of ripe black cherry, cassis, violet, and subtle spice. On the palate, it’s rich yet vibrant, with polished tannins and a long, layered finish marked by tobacco, graphite, and sweet herbs. A powerful yet graceful expression of the Tuscan hills.
