94 Points The Wine Independent - The NV Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Cuvee Vive Extra Brut is 100% Chardonnay, disgorged in November 2021 and with 3 g/L dosage. Pale golden in color, it opens with one of those Champagne noses that you need to search for, but when you find it, your heart starts racing. Notes of chalk dust, lime leaves, and preserved mandarin peel slowly emerge from the glass, leading to a core of apple tart, baking bread, and beeswax with a hint of crushed stones. The palate is beautifully poised - dry and refreshing - with delicately expressed chalk and citrus fruit layers plus fine but not aggressive bubbles, finishing with great persistence and grace.

Clos Cazals Vieille Vigne comes from the oldest vines of Clos Cazals planted in the 1950s by Delphine's grandfather. This plot-based cuvée, 100% Chardonnay single-varietal gives birth to one Vintage: the 2013.

A passage in oak barrels is carried out for all vintages in order to bring subtle and delicate aromas. Aging on slats for a minimum of 10 years in a vaulted cellar in Mesnil-sur-Oger is required to develop the full aromatic palette of this exceptional cuvée, highlighting all the complexity of the 100% Oger terroir.

A fine and elegant champagne with notes of white flowers and citrus fruits with an appreciable roundness and revealed by a minimal dosage between Extra-Brut and Brut Nature depending on the vintage.
