Full Product Description

The Scarpa 2018 Barolo Monvigliero DOCG is a landmark wine—the first-ever Monvigliero Barolo produced by Scarpa, marking the beginning of a prestigious partnership with one of the most revered crus in the Barolo denomination. Crafted from 100% Nebbiolo grown in Verduno, Monvigliero is widely regarded as the “Grand Cru” of Barolo, celebrated for its finesse, aromatic lift, and remarkable longevity.

Scarpa, one of Piedmont’s most historic and respected producers, is known for wines of purity, elegance, and patience. True to its philosophy, Scarpa vinifies Monvigliero in a traditional, unforced style—allowing terroir, acidity, and Nebbiolo’s noble tannins to define the wine over time.

The 2018 vintage delivered healthy grapes of exceptional quality, yielding a Barolo that is still youthful yet already expressive, with the structure and balance required for decades of aging.

The Monvigliero Cru (MGA)

Located in Verduno, on the western edge of the Barolo DOCG, Monvigliero is renowned for producing Barolos that combine austerity with elegance, emphasizing floral aromatics, freshness, and mineral precision. The vineyard’s south and south-west exposure, limestone-rich soils, and elevation of 300 meters create wines of exceptional balance and longevity.
