✨ Tasting Notes
The Valentini 2020 Trebbiano d’Abruzzo DOC is not just one of Italy’s greatest white wine—it’s a cultural artifact. Crafted by one of Italy’s most legendary winemaking families, this ultra-rare organic Trebbiano from Abruzzo is a wine of haunting complexity and stunning age-worthiness.
In the glass, it shows a brilliant straw-yellow hue with green-gold flashes, and the nose is instantly captivating—lime peel, green apple, crushed oyster shell, and chalky minerality, with straw and almond skin weaving in the background. The palate is bone dry, yet dense and electric, with explosive notes of salty lemon zest, tangerine oil, ginger root, and a chalk-dusted core. A whisper of raw almond and wet herbs adds texture and grace. Finishes long, zesty, and ethereally vibrant—a dazzling expression of Trebbiano as only Valentini can render it.
With its tight structure, nervy acidity, and gripping minerality, this wine is built to evolve for decades. Drink now for its sheer energy or cellar until 2028 and beyond for even deeper complexity.
🍇 The Legend of Valentini
Few names in Italy inspire as much reverence as Valentini. Once known as the “Coche-Dury of Italy”, this cult estate in Loreto Aprutino (Abruzzo) has become synonymous with excellence, purity, and scarcity. Founded by the late Edoardo Valentini, who famously bottled only the finest 5% of his fruit and rejected the rest, the winery quickly earned legendary status for producing Italy’s most iconic white wine.
Today, Edoardo’s son Francesco Valentini continues the legacy with the same uncompromising standards, crafting wine only in great vintages, from ancient Trebbiano d’Abruzzese vines, trained in the traditional tendone canopy system. Everything is organically farmed, fermented spontaneously, and bottled unfiltered, with minimal sulfites and no additives. The result is a wine that tastes like terroir in its purest form—vibrating with life, soil, and time.
