Alexandrea Winery 2023 Chardonnay – Kotayk, Armenia

The Alexandrea Winery 2023 Chardonnay is a radiant expression of Armenia’s new era of fine winemaking — a marriage of high-altitude purity, masterful oak aging, and meticulous craftsmanship. Cultivated at 1,315 meters above sea level in the Proshyan region of Kotayk, this single-vineyard Chardonnay captures the soul of Armenia’s volcanic soils and crisp mountain air.

A Taste of Armenia’s High-Altitude Elegance

While Chardonnay is traditionally associated with Burgundy or California, this Armenian interpretation brings a unique character shaped by elevation, terroir, and time. The cool climate and abundant sunlight of Kotayk nurture grapes that balance bright acidity with luscious ripeness, resulting in a vibrant, fruit-forward, and impeccably balanced wine.

Fermented and matured in fine French oak barrels, the 2023 Alexandrea Chardonnay opens with a luxurious bouquet of yellow apple, white pear, quince, banana, and pineapple, wrapped in subtle notes of vanilla, straw, and toasted oak.

Tasting Notes

On the palate, this wine is both generous and refreshing, offering a full-bodied mouthfeel with layers of tropical fruit, citrus zest, and hints of hazelnut. Its texture is creamy yet refined, with a perfect interplay of oak complexity and mineral precision. The finish is long, smooth, and delicately nutty, leaving behind lingering tones of lemon peel, white peach, and subtle spice.

This is a Chardonnay of harmony and depth — a wine that speaks fluently in the language of elegance, freshness, and modern Armenian identity.
