Brunelli 2013 Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Tuscany Italy
95 points Wine Enthusiast - "Alluring aromas of wild berry, crushed blue flower, dried herb and exotic spice lead the way. The elegant linear palate doles out juicy black cherry, raspberry preserve, licorice and a hint of tobacco. It's well balanced, with taut fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. Give this time to fully develop. Drink 2023–2033."
94 points Decanter - "Despite the cooler, rainier conditions, owner Laura Brunelli found her 2013 more structured and complex than 2012. As such, unlike some of her colleagues, she will also be releasing a 2013 Riserva. This hasn't compromised the quality of her regular bottling, which is an ethereal, elegant expression. Along with pure red cherry, nuances of orange, dried roses and thyme are held together by subtly firm tannins. Mineral and liquorice notes glide across the finish. MMorris"
93 points Vinous - "Dark red. Perfumed red cherry and flinty underbrush nuances on the nose. Then deep and rich in the mouth with red cherry and plum flavors dominating. Finishes long, revealing a hint of balsamic oils and licorice. Currently very austere, this promising Brunello will need plenty of time in a good cellar to showcase all of its noteworthy potential. 90 points James Suckling - "Smoke, dried berry and orange peel follow through to a full body. Dried fruits at the finish. A little short but nice enough."
Jancis Robinson "Mid ruby with orange tinges. Shy yet complex and concentrated on the nose. Gorgeous intensity of spicy cherry that is never heavy and with firm but finely grained tannins. Really too young to approach right now. (WS) 17.5/20"
