A classic Rioja in a spectacular large format, the Marqués de Riscal 2014 Rioja Reserva 3 Liter Double Magnum brings together one of Spain’s historic wine estates, a mature Reserva vintage and the impressive presence of a 3-liter bottle.

Founded in 1858 in Elciego, Marqués de Riscal is one of the historic names of Rioja and helped establish the region's reputation for age-worthy, oak-matured wines. Its Reserva has become one of the estate's signature wines and a benchmark expression of traditional Rioja.

The 2014 Reserva is composed of 90% Tempranillo, 7% Graciano and 3% Mazuelo. The Tempranillo comes primarily from older vineyards planted before the 1970s in the clay-limestone soils of Rioja Alavesa. Fermentation took place at a controlled temperature of approximately 26°C, followed by maceration of no more than 12 days. The wine was then matured for approximately two years in American oak barrels, followed by a minimum of one year of bottle aging before release—a classic approach to Rioja Reserva. Tasting Notes

The 2014 shows an intense black-cherry color with impressive depth and relatively little evolution. The nose is expressive and complex, combining ripe concentrated fruit with licorice, cinnamon and black pepper, along with subtle nuances developed through extended barrel aging.

On the palate, it remains fresh and beautifully structured, with polished tannins and an elegant balance between ripe fruit, acidity and oak. A long, persistent finish carries delicate balsamic notes characteristic of mature Rioja. Shaw Ross International Importers
