Pinots from this well-regarded vineyard are rarely wanting in richness, and while this one convincingly makes just that point, it shows a degree of crafting and polish that very few do. It is rich, it is concentrated and it is surprisingly complex in its youth with layers of creamy oak, subtle herbs, spice and brioche underpinned by deep and ongoing, ripe cherry fruit. It is showy stuff, but it is also terrifically well-balanced, and even if there is nothing about it that dissuades drinking now, there is plenty to suggest that it is some years away from reaching its very considerable best. *Three Stars* (10/2015)

The 2013 Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard is quite open and expressive. Dark plum, pomegranate, blood orange and exotic spices open up in a dense, voluptuous Pinot to drink over the next few years, once the tannins settle down a bit. The silky, textured finish is incredibly inviting, but the best is still to come. The high acidity of the vintage is quite apparent at this stage. The inclusion of around 10% whole clusters works nicely here. (AG) (3/2015)

Fresh and vibrant, featuring snappy wild berry, cola, raspberry and dusty earth notes. Tight but expansive, with the fruit playing a bigger role toward the finish, where the tannins grip and hold the flavors. Drink now through 2021. (JL) (8/2015)

One of the more tight and backwards efforts from this vineyard, the 2013 Pinot Noir Garys’ Vineyard was mostly destemmed (19% whole clusters) and aged 16 months in 46% new French oak. Medium-bodied, focused and downright racy on the palate, it still has some whole cluster notes in its sappy spring flowers, cassis and black raspberry-scented bouquet. It’s a beautiful wine, but needs 2-3 years of cellaring. (JD) (10/2015)

Garys’ Vineyard is a partnership between Gary Franscioni and Gary Pisoni. Both families’ roots in the Santa Lucia Highlands are quite deep. Their families have farmed this area for over 100 years. Recognizing the region’s potential for premium wine grapes, the Garys turned their focus to viticulture and partnered together on the Garys’ Vineyard in 1997. A star was born. Both Gary Franscioni and Gary Pisoni exude passion; for adventure, for family and friends, for grape growing, and for wine. They have managed to combine all of these by pouring their enthusiasm and energy into the Garys’ Vineyard. Our fi rst vintage of Garys’ Vineyard was in 2005. Well known for bold, unique wines, this vineyard lies in the middle reach of the Santa Lucia Highlands appellation in Monterey County. Our blend is comprised exclusively of the Pisoni Clone.

AROMATICS: Verdant and supple, with dark plum and stone fruit character, along with hints of apple blossom.

ON THE PALATE: Boysenberry and concentrated wild berry fruit distinguish a dense, juicy core. Savory minerality is complemented by a bright acidity, defining the center palate. The mouthful is ample and plush, with a lingering finish.
