The Paris Judgment is just one chapter in Chateau Montelena's illustrious history. In the winemaking process, modern technology does not replace people or art, but it does extend our creative possibilities. There are no formulas in this situation.

The history of Chateau Montelena is one of the most extensive and illustrious in the Napa Valley and California. It was one of the largest vineyards in the state when it was founded in 1882 by a senator and San Francisco entrepreneur just north of Calistoga at the turn of the century.

The fragrant strength of Château montelena cabernet sauvignon, which is dark garnet in color and practically violet in the glass, is enticing. Bergamot, lavender, mint, gunpowder, and sage blend with fresh berries and dried cherries without one element overpowering the others.

With cranberry, cola, and raspberry jam, it's light and refreshing. The acidity is razor-sharp, the spine pulling the layers of flavor into harmony with the wine's delicate, yet hefty structure. The tannins in this wine help to highlight rather than overpower the dynamic balance of texture, ripeness, and vineyard character.
