J. Charpentier Blanc de Blancs Brut NV – Champagne, France
Discover the elegance and authenticity of J. Charpentier Blanc de Blancs Brut NV, a beautifully crafted Grower Champagne made exclusively from 100% Chardonnay grown on the Charpentier family's vineyards in the Vallée de la Marne. Produced entirely from estate fruit and aged extensively on the lees, this refined Champagne delivers exceptional value while showcasing the purity and precision that only small family-owned growers can achieve.
Unlike the large Champagne houses that purchase grapes from across the region, J. Charpentier is a true Récoltant-Manipulant (RM) Grower Champagne, meaning every step—from farming the vineyards to bottling the finished wine—is controlled by the Charpentier family. This philosophy allows each bottle to faithfully express the unique terroir of their vineyards while preserving the traditions that have been passed down through five generations.
The Blanc de Blancs Brut is sourced from four carefully selected Chardonnay vineyards in Le Breuil, Châtillon-sur-Marne, Verneuil, and Avenay-Val-d'Or. Following temperature-controlled fermentation and complete malolactic fermentation, the wine is blended with reserve wines from previous vintages before aging for 30 to 36 months in the cellar. The result is a Champagne that balances freshness with remarkable depth and complexity.
Tasting Notes
The nose opens with vibrant aromas of Meyer lemon, green apple, white flowers, and ripe pear, followed by elegant notes of brioche, meringue, lemon tart, toasted almonds, and pastry cream developed through extended lees aging.
On the palate, the wine is lively and beautifully textured, offering flavors of citrus zest, crisp orchard fruits, chalky minerality, and delicate brioche. A creamy mousse is balanced by bright acidity, leading to a long, clean finish marked by freshness and finesse.
Elegant, expressive, and exceptionally versatile, this is classic Blanc de Blancs Champagne with the added personality that only a family-owned grower estate can deliver.
About J. Charpentier
The story of Champagne J. Charpentier spans five generations of winemaking in the Vallée de la Marne. The family's roots trace back to the early twentieth century, when both the Charpentier and Claisse families established themselves as respected grape growers dedicated to producing exceptional fruit.
In the 1950s, Marcel Claisse began bottling Champagne under his own name. The marriage of Claudine Claisse and Jacky Charpentier in 1974 united two families with generations of vineyard expertise, laying the foundation for today's estate.
Based in Villers-sous-Châtillon, Champagne J. Charpentier continues to produce handcrafted Grower Champagnes that celebrate their vineyards rather than a standardized house style. Every bottle reflects meticulous vineyard management, sustainable farming practices, and a deep respect for terroir.

Grower Champagne: Why It Matters
Grower Champagnes have become highly sought after by wine enthusiasts because they offer a true expression of a single family's vineyards rather than a consistent commercial house style.
As a Récoltant-Manipulant (RM) producer, J. Charpentier grows, harvests, vinifies, and bottles its own grapes, creating wines with greater individuality, authenticity, and a stronger sense of place. Produced in much smaller quantities than the famous Champagne houses, Grower Champagnes represent some of the best values in the world of fine sparkling wine.
