Ridge Vineyards produces wines that are on par with Bordeaux First Growths and Grand Cru White Burgundies in terms of quality and appeal. Paul Draper, Ridge's winemaker, has made 43 vintages, and his practical, hands-off approach has resulted in an excellent and highly sought-after selection of wines.
Since 1975, Ridge Monte Bello has been a Cabernet-dominated blend with varied amounts of Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc to provide depth to the finished wine, depending on the vintage.
Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon starts with black cherry, chai spice, chaparral, and toasted wood flavors mingle with saturated purple color. On the palate, there's bramble fruit, soft, supple tannins, herbal woodland notes, and a lengthy finish.
